MSTU representatives and Art. Lebedev Studio discussed the university development project


On June 25, 2021, Art. Lebedev Studio team (project leaders Anastasia Savenkova and Ekaterina Arsenyeva, chief architect Svetlana Vasilyeva, architect Andrei Kisin and strategic thinker Alexei Slukin) met students and management of Murmansk State Technical University and had interesting and profound meetings.

Art. Lebedev Studio team arrived in Murmansk to collect data on the current state of the university campus, to estimate its strengths and weaknesses, as well as to determine and discuss a scenario for further implementation of a large-scale infrastructure project.

With great pleasure MSTU students shared their ideas concerning campus development and told the team about their ordinary days at the university.

University management and Art. Lebedev Studio team discussed campus infrastructure, specific features of the educational process, as well as laboratories and lecture halls facilities. And the most discussed topics were – parking places for students, sports facilities and comfortable co-working zones.

Art. Lebedev Studio team explained in detail the current status of the ongoing work to create a large-scale renovation project on the MSTU campus. In the future, the master plan will include recommendations for the strategic development of the University, as well as a set of planning, architectural and design solutions that allow the university to create a world-class campus.

The master plan will take into account not only the best world campuses but also the specifics of the University, including the engineering and marine orientation.

The interim rector of MSTU Svetlana Derkach noted the importance of integrating MSTU into the urban environment by forming a comfortable open campus area and developing its infrastructure. The effective pooling of all the resources of a single ecosystem of the University in the future will create the best conditions for providing highly skilled specialists for the Arctic and will make the MSTU campus an important part of the public life of Murmansk.

Art. Lebedev Studio and MSTU have a lot of work – collect the necessary information: from social research to a detailed description of the functional load of the campus.
