First international conference in the Young Innovative Entrepreneurs project
November 14-17 the first international conference was held in Finland and Sweden. The conference organizers team had the aim to connect young and potential entrepreneurs from Finland, Sweden, Norway and Russia by giving them full scope for communication and discussing each other's interests. This aim was revealed in the title of the event which was called Matchmaking Conference.
The first conference day was held in the twin cities Tornio and Haparanda on the border of Finland and Sweden. More than 100 participants were divided into smaller groups and given the task to think of new and perhaps even "crazy" business ideas. The task appeared to be not an easy one, and the working time was limited, but all the groups did really well and made bright and riveting presentations of their business ideas in the evening.
Rovaniemy University of Applied Sciences welcomed the guests on the second day. This time small groups discussed the concept of Barents InnoLabs that are to be created in Rovaniemi and Murmansk as part of the project. The InnoLabs will provide support and consultance for the young entrepreneurs, so it was very important to find out the participants' opinion of what the labs should be like. In addition, all the guests had a chance to tell about their business in the Speakers Corner during the coffee break.
4 MSTU students and 4 staff members took part in the event: Lyudvik Avedisyan, Marat Tukhvatshin and Darya Uspenskaya (MSTU Economics, Management and International Relations Institution), Anastasiya Mitrofanova (Natural Sciences Faculty), Elena Saenkova (Associate Professor of the International Economy Department), Nina Ershova (International Cooperation Department).
The project is supported by EU within the Kolarctic ENPI programme.
