International Winter School «Russian Arctic – Language, Culture, Economy» for Norwegian Students
On 01-14 of December 2013 in Murmansk State Technical University the international winter school " Russian Arctic – Language, Culture, Economy" was organized for the Norwegian students. 13 students from the Northern Norway participated in the school activities.
Within two weeks they intensively learned Russian language, culture of our country and the Murmansk region. Students were divided into 2 groups according to their level of Russian. They had daily classes and lectures about culture, economy and history of our rich Motherland. The second part of the day was devoted to practical acquaintance with culture and traditions. Students visited Regional Studies Museum, the ice breaker "Lenin", Oceanarium , had a party in anti-cafe "Teplo" and in many other interesting places. Students from our university who wished to be volunteers helped with the organization of the cultural programme and mixed well with the Norwegian guests.
The participants mentioned that the programme which included both educational part and real life acquaintance with culture and traditions of the High North was interesting and substantial. Students also said that the level of school organization was high and confirmed that they would like to take part in the similar winter school next time. At the end of the winter school students were given certificates for participation.
