Winter School «Russian Arctic: language, culture, economy»
December 16 the closing ceremony of the winter school "Russian Arctic: language, Culture, economy" was held at MSTU. The winter school was supported by the Norwegian Barents Secretariat and run together with Murmansk State Humanities University.
On the 4th of December 11 participants from Northern Norway arrived in Murmansk and the school started. The two-week programme included regular classes, meetings and excursions aimed at learning about the history and culture of the Kola region. The students visited Murmansk Regional Museum of Local Lore, atomic ice-breaker "Lenin", Kirovsk Botanical Garden and Verhnetulomskaya Hydro Power Plant. They also visited the famous Murmansk artist Vitaliy Bubentsov who welcomed the students warmly and showed them some of his pictures.
After the evaluation test all the students received Winter School Certificates. Both hosts and students prepared a social programme for the last evening. The students made a slide show with a lot of photos taken during the classes and excursions. The awards ceremony finished with a short drama performance "Teremok", where students and MSTU International Cooperation Departments staff acted brilliantly. Members of MSTU singing club and MSHU vocal team "Royal Teens" performed some nice songs.
