High North Young Entrepreneur 2020
Are you a Young Entrepreneur with ideas to share? Here´s a chance to win 50 000 NOK and have your business idea assessed by experts at the High North Dialogue conference in March 2020.
High North Young Entrepreneur contest is an international pitch competition of Arctic-related business ideas of young entrepreneurs and start-ups, and it is organized by the High North Center for Business and Governance at Nord University Business School in cooperation with Innovation Norway Nordland.
The overall goal of the initiative is to encourage young people of the High North to develop their business ideas. The contest final is a part of the program of the annual High North Dialogue conference in Bodø, Norway. At the final session, three start-ups have an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to 350 conference participants – Arctic experts, and to win financial funding for their business: a check for 50 000 NOK.
How to apply?
Companies and individual entrepreneurs from any country and sphere are eligible to apply; however, the business idea has somehow to be related to the circumpolar north. This may be individual start-ups or a company registered and operating in the Arctic area, for example, Arkhangelsk, Bodø, Anchorage. This may be a business idea connected to the Arctic. As the contest focus is on start-ups and fresh business ideas, the company must not be older than three years of the start-up date. Age of the applicant – up to 40 years old.
Evaluation criteria: relevance to the Arctic, quality of the business plan, originality/innovativeness of the idea. Please tell us why your idea is unique, important and doable. We especially encourage, but not limit projects to the areas as follows: Bioeconomy, Clean Energy, Health and welfare, Ocean, Smart society, Creative industries, and tourism.

The nomination period closes on February 10, 2020.
What is next?
A committee consisting of experts from business and innovations will decide on the three companies who will travel to Bodø to present their ideas at the High North Dialogue conference on the 18th of March 2020. Travel and stay costs for the finalists are covered by the organizers of the competition.
There will be three entrepreneurs at the final, which of them will pitch for three minutes. The High North Dialogue conference participants will vote for the best project, and the winner will get the award straight after the completion is over.
