Rector of Murmansk State Technical University held working meeting with Consul General of the Kingdom of Norway in Murmansk
On March 13, 2019, the Rector of Murmansk State Technical University Sergey Agarkov held a working meeting with the Consul General of the Kingdom of Norway in Murmansk Mr. Erik Svedahl.
The delegation also included Consul of the Kingdom of Norway in Murmansk Ms. Astrid Naerum, Adviser on economic Affairs and international Cooperation Svetlana Konopleva and Advisor on Cultural Affairs and International Cooperation Tatyana Dezhina.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen international cooperation and information communication. During the meeting, the parties raised issues of student exchange and obtaining double Russian-Norwegian diplomas.
"MSTU is positioning itself as an engineering technical university. We started with maritime education, went through a series of upgrades and returned to our origins, "the rector emphasized. Sergey Agarkov noted that maritime education at MSTU is at a high level, students graduate with diplomas of international standard. This allows them to work absolutely in any country. The rector also highlighted the importance of developing a study course on environmental safety and environmental management in the context of Arctic maritime interaction with the participation of the Norwegian side for effective emergency response at sea.
Vice-Rector for Innovation and International Cooperation (MSTU) Victoria Yatsenko and Head of International Cooperation Department, Natalia Anikeeva, invited representatives of the consulate to take part in the IVth Scientific Conference "The Arctic: History and Modernity" which will be held in late April.
At the end of the meeting Sergey Agarkov thanked the guests for their sustained interest in the university life and many years of successful cooperation.
