First MSTU Mobility Teacher Returned from Norway
February 1-5, 2016 Saida Ibatullina, director of MSTU preparatory Department, visited the University of Tromsø the Arctic University of Norway (campus Alta) within the academic mobility grant from Barents Plus regional mobility programme.
The purpose of the visit was an intensive Russian language course for UiT teachers and staff, the course duration was 12 academic hours. The course was addressed to beginners and intermediate level students.
During the course the students got acquainted with typical communication situations, typical grammar structures and lexical patterns. Lessons were organized so as to support informal communication, big amount of visual aids was used including cross-cultural materials. All the materials were aimed to inspire students to participate in mini-dialogs and read mini-texts in Russian.
The students demonstrated high interest, strong motivation in studying Russian and wished to know more during this short period of time. They expressed satisfaction with the course results.
The course organization was excellent, the schedule was made according to students’ wishes, and lessons took place in the afternoon and evening time.
Perfect conditions were provided for the teacher, namely: comfortable accommodation, a separate office, Internet and copying facilities. Moreover, an interesting excursion to the Ice Hotel located not far from Alta was organized in spare time.
It should be noted that MSTU teacher was heartily welcomed by the UiT staff that was always friendly and ready to help. The mobility period can be considered as absolutely effective and productive.
