The official delegation of Sweden visited MSTU


On 28 November, the official delegation of Sweden visited MSTU. The delegation is composed of Mr. Björn O. Nilsson, County Governor of Norrbotten, Consul General of Sweden Ms. Eva Sundquist, Professor of the Luleå University of Technology Oleg Antzutkin, director of the English language schools in Russia EF English First Irina Eddaira and Development Manager of Stockholm School of Economics in Russia Victoria Kostikova.

The visit to MGTU is timed to the "Days of Sweden in Murmansk," held from 26 to 30 November. "Days of Sweden" is organized by the Consulate General of Sweden and the Administration of the Norrbotten County with the support of the Government of the Murmansk Region.

Rector of MSTU appreciated Governor Norrbotten Mr. Bjorn Nilsson for the visit and noted that given the current challenging situation in the modern world universities remain the fundamental basis of any country, its bearers of traditions and new ideas generators. Sergey Agarkov expressed hope that this meeting would lead to a new page of cooperation.

Mr. Bjorn Nilsson, in turn, said that the main purpose of the visit is to develop and strengthen ties between the Murmansk region and Sweden: town twinning, interregional, educational, cultural and business. The Governor noted that he was particularly pleased to visit the university, Bjorn Nilsson – a prominent specialist in biochemistry, for many years engaged in science and business, headed the Swedish Royal Academy of Engineering Sciences. According to Mr. Nilsson, strengthening academic cooperation is part of a sustainable future, and the hope of the future is our students.

Vice-rector for Innovation and International Cooperation Victoria Yatsenko told about the history of MSTU, and the Head of the Department of International Cooperation Natalia Anikeeva showed a presentation about MSTU structure and told about the main directions of international cooperation. Guests from Sweden noted that they had much in common in the areas of research and scientific interests of our universities.

Professor of the Luleå University of Technology Oleg Antzutkin came to Murmansk as a participant of the delegation at the request of the rector of his university. He expressed his desire to resume interaction between our educational institutions and first of all to intensify academic mobility for students of all levels of study. The development manager of the Stockholm School of Economics in Russia Victoria Kostikova also said that she arrived in Murmansk at the initiative of the rector of the Stockholm School, who also expressed interest in organizing joint exchange programs for students.

After the meeting with the MSTU administration, lectures for students and teachers were held by the Governor of the Norrbotten Region, Mr. Bjorn Nilsson, Professor of the Luleå University of Technology Oleg Antzutkin and Director of Schools of English for Adults EF English First in Russia Irina Eddair.
